In January-May 2018, a salvage excavation was conducted in the northwestern part of the historical Tif'eret Yisra'el Synagogue in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem (Permit No. A-8210; map ref. 222105/631418; Fig. 1), prior to conducting restoration work. The excavation, carried out on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA), was directed by Y. Tchekhanovets (field photography) with the assistance of N. Nehama (administration), V. Essman (surveying), Y. Gorin-Rosen (glass finds), E.I. Delerzon (drafting), C. Amit (studio photography), I. Lidsky-Reznikov (pottery drawing), C. Hersch (glass drawing) and L. Kupershmidt (metal conservation). Advise was provided by O. Gutfeld (Hebrew University of Jerusalem) and colleagues from the Jerusalem district of the IAA: E. Kagan, Z. Matskevich and N. Sapir.
