Language is a living, dynamic and cultural phenomenon. In every language, certain specific ways are used to express ideas. With their help, one can express one's ideas in a symbolic, metaphorical or figurative way in conversation instead of expressing them directly. This way of expression is called an idiom. Idiom is that treasure of language which is the essence of the intelligence, experiences, observations and culture of a nation. It not only creates beauty and charm in the language but also creates depth in the intellectual and spiritual. Idiom is the art of presenting a common thing in a special way. The importance of idiom in language is like the soul in the body. If the idiom is separated from the language, the soul will leave, and only the body will remain.          The study of the types of idioms reveals many similarities between Urdu and English idioms in terms of meaning, subject matter and style. Although Urdu and English belong to two different societies, the basic reasons for the similarities in both societies are human beings, psychology, desires, customs, society, and ways of living, interaction, and daily life.
