Luis Jimenez was best known for his vibrantly colored and large-scale sculpture of the Hispanic-American culture of Texas and New Mexico which was outside of the mainstream. Jimenez himself stood somewhat alone in celebrating his Mexican origins and the culture of the American Southwest during a time when major artistic movements were occurring primarily in New York.
