The poster - “Dem 24 mart 1940. Ale tsu di voln in oyber-rot fun F[arband]SSR un in oyber-rot fun U[krainishe]SSR!” (March 24, 1940. All to the elections to the Supreme Council of the USSR and to the Supreme Council of the U[krainian]SSR!) in original Yiddish - promotes the popular involvement in the elections to the organs of the Soviet power in the western regions of Ukraine annexed by the USSR as per the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact (partition of independent Polish state between Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia) in November 1939. The election sought the legitimation of the Soviet authorities, involvement of the local population in administration of the region, and its integration into Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. The poster illustrates and describes the stages of a voting process. Published by the State publishing house “Iskusstvo” (Moscow-Leningrad, 1940). Designed by Nikolai Zhukov (1908-1973), Soviet artist, the author of many propaganda posters and portraits of the party leaders. Editor A.Druzhkov. Technical editor I.Kabanov.
