Historical milestones of the Bashkir Research Trachomatous Institute

The article is devoted to the formation and systematic development of the Bashkir Research Trachomatous Institute-the oldest eye research institution of the country , which led the work on the elimination of trachoma in the republic. The Trachomatous Institute became the coordinator of these activities: field examination work, study of the etiology of the disease, its prevention and treatment, surgical care, training of medical and junior staff, etc. The founder and first director of the Institute V.P. Odintsov was able to organize the work of the team at the appropriate level, so that the task set for the institution was completed - trachoma was eliminated.
