Neumühle near Zeitz

Former water mill on the Elster, the so-called “Neumühle bei Haynsburg” or “Neumühle bei Sautzschen,” which was built by the Duchess Maria Amalia von Sachsen-Zeitz from 1701. In addition to grain, oil and cutting mill, a paper mill was operated by various garbage families. The mill operation was discontinued around 1913. Some outbuildings are still standing at the Elster near Sautzschen. Lebek made the woodcut according to old illustrations for his “woodcut fibel.”
Overall, the “woodcut fibel” is illustrated with 41 woodcuts or wooden stitches, a title vignette and a title woodcut.
In the book “Der Holzschneider Johannnes Lebek Leben und Werk” edited by Elisabeth and Hubert Wegner, Rudolf Schneider Verlag Munich 60, 1988, it was published in 1957. (Museum Schloss Moritzburg Zeitz)
