View through Europeana Collections
Light blue, violet coloured 'Minimal Dress' consisting of blue horizontally hanging threads with a bow at the back of the neck (a). The dress has to be hung on the glass hanger (b). These are hung with a wire that is looped around the hanger. In our consumer society garments are thrown away because of changing fashion rather than because they are worn out. The use of materials in the clothing industry is therefore alarmingly high. For her final exam at the Design Academy Eindhoven Digna Kosse made fifteen 'dresses', 'minimal dresses', that are a far cry from this waste of material. She shows that you can minimize garments with only a few threads. With these minimal dresses, which still remain feminine, she makes a fashion statement. Sources of inspiration for her included an advertisement torn from a newspaper with the text 'SAY ¥€$ TO ₤€$$'. The 'minimal dresses' were made from twisted and wrapped cords based on small sketches.
