Short, button through, baby's dress with matching cream silk knickers, by St Joan, Nottingham, 1955-1956. Dress and knickers set for a baby; Knickers made of cream silk fabric with elasticated leg holes and a seam running around the centre front and back of the knickers. Shirt-style dress for a baby of about 1-2 years old. The dress is probably made of a cream silk. It has a pointed collar, front and back, and buttons up and opens completely down the central front panel of the dress with 5 buttons. The dress has short sleeves with turn ups. The chest area is smocked with light blue stitching. The dress is very flared and worn short on the baby. The back panel of the dress has flared pleats. There is a deep hem.
