Girl's dress of cream synthetic and wool mix, made for John Walsh, Belgium, 1958-1960. Cream dress with short, puffed sleeves, knitted cuffs and waistband. The dress has a high neck and Peter Pan-style collar. The waistband is gathered using a threaded drawstring belt made of strands of wool and two pom poms at the ends. The dress is plain cream fabric of a wide woven fabric. It has been embroidered in wools with the repeating motif of a blue duckling and an intermittent line of red running stitches. The pattern is repeated around the chest and sleeves of the dress and all around the hem. The dress is unlined and has a wide and hand-tacked hem. The dress fastens at the back using three buttons, opening to the waist. Machine stitched.
