Nalar Ideologi Politik Hasan al-Turabi dalam Tafsir al-Tawhidi

H{asan al-Tura>bi> has a background as a thinker and a politician advocating political Islam. In the context of interpretation, politics can influence the interpretation of sacred verses, making it important to understand how political ideology shapes one’s interpretation of the Qur’an, and the use of political reasoning certainly has implications for interpretation. The research questions in this study are as follows: 1) What are the implications of interpreting the Qur'an from a political ideological perspective? 2) How does al-Tura>bi’s political ideology reasoning in Tafsir al-Tawh}i>di> present an alternative understanding of the role of religion in the political system? 3) What is the contribution of Tafsir al-Tawh}i>di> to political practice in Sudan? This study is a literature review with a descriptive-analytical approach. The analysis employed system analysis and content analysis with a sociological knowledge and hermeneutics approach. The findings of the study reveal that: 1) The implications of interpreting the Qur’an from a political ideological perspective tend to support specific political views, neglect historical and social contexts, limit the variations of interpretation, increase the risk of politicizing religion, and create conflicts between different interpretations. 2) Al-Tura>bi>’s political ideology reasoning in Tafsir al-Tawh}i>di> emphasizes the role of religion as the foundation of values and principles in politics, advocates for the implementation of Sharia law, and involves the Muslim community in political decision-making. This presents an alternative to secular perspectives and strengthens the role of religion in the political system. 3) Tafsir al-Tawh}i>di> has a significant influence on shaping political thinking and orientation in Sudan, with an emphasis on the integration of religion and politics. Despite the gaps and complexities in the relationship between political thought and practice, Tafsir al-Tawh}i>di> provides an ideological foundation for Sudan's political dynamics. The theoretical implications of this research are that in the interpretation of the Qur’an, Tafsir alTawhi>di> offers an alternative understanding of the relationship between religion and politics, although its significance is limited due to the mismatch between the interpreted text and existing realities. It is also important to consider the possibility of interpretations being exploited to achieve specific political goals, as well as the importance of maintaining openness and flexibility in understanding the sacred text holistically.
