In January-April and September 2016, a salvage excavation was conducted at the ‘Akko train station, east of the railroad tracks, near Kibbutz Galuyot Street (License No. B-440/2016; map ref. 20810-30/75880-935), after antiquities were discovered in trial trenches prior to undertaking development works. The excavation, sponsored by the Institute of Archaeology of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, on behalf of the salvage excavation program headed by O. Gutfeld (project management) and financed by the Israel Railways, was directed by B. Monnickendam-Givon and R. Sabar, with the assistance of J. Gosker and A. Mokary (trial trenches), Y. Rotem (area supervision), T. Yashuv (registration), S. Sharpberg (area supervision), A. Kohn-Tavor, A. Ovadia and N. Paz (assistance in area supervision), G. Abu Ganam (technical management), M. Intrator (archaeozoology), J. Tafe (Attic pottery), S. Mermelstein (Mold made bowls), D. Syon (metal detection), S. Amra and A. Amra (area preparation and trial trenches), I. Monnickendam (photography) and R.H. Safety and Projects Management (safety). Additional assistance was provided by Z. Horowitz, H. Abu-‘Uqsa-Aboud, R. Abu-Raya, Y. Lerer, A. Abu-Hamid and Y.
