Peranan Qarā`In Dalam Penerimaan Hadis Ḍa’īf Di Sisi Mazhab Al-Shāfi’ī

The discussion surrounding weak hadiths (ḍa’īf) often sparks debates in academic circles. However, it is known that scholars have long held differing in their views regarding the permissibility of acting upon weak hadiths. This study aims to examine the role of qarā`in in supporting ḍa’īf hadith in the legal rulings of the shafi'i school of thought. The study adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing a literature review to gather data from classical arabic references and contemporary sources. An analysis is then conducted on examples of ḍa’īf hadith supported by qarā`in, which renders them applicable in legal practice. The study specifically focuses on the ḍa'īf hadith found in Fatḥ al-‘Azīz by al-Rāfi’ī, a key reference in the shafi'i school, considering al-Rāfi’ī's status as a mujtahid in fatwa within this school. The findings reveal that qarā`in plays a crucial role in ensuring that a ḍa’īf hadith remains applicable, even though it is categorized as weak. In conclusion, the existence of qarā`in supporting ḍa'īf hadith allows such hadiths to be used in legal arguments, despite the majority of scholars rejecting the use of ḍa’īf on their own in establishing legal rulings.
