Maharah al-Qira’ah dan Maharah al-Kitabah sebagai Fondasi Studi Tafsir Al-Qur’an

Mastery of Arabic language skills is a fundamental requirement in Qur’anic studies, particularly in the discipline of Qur’anic exegesis (tafsīr). Among the four Arabic language skills, Mahārah al-Qirā’ah (reading skill) and Mahārah al-Kitābah (writing skill) play a crucial role in understanding, analyzing, and interpreting Qur’anic texts and classical as well as contemporary tafsīr literature. This study aims to examine the position of Mahārah al-Qirā’ah and Mahārah al-Kitābah as foundational competencies in the study of Qur’anic exegesis. Using a qualitative descriptive approach through a literature review, this article analyzes various sources related to Arabic language learning and Qur’anic studies. The findings indicate that reading skills enable students to comprehend Arabic texts accurately and critically, while writing skills facilitate the systematic articulation of interpretative ideas and arguments in tafsīr studies. The integration of these two skills significantly contributes to improving students’ academic competence in Qur’anic exegesis, particularly in understanding primary sources and producing scholarly writings. Therefore, strengthening Mahārah al-Qirā’ah and Mahārah al-Kitābah in the curriculum of the Ilmu Al-Qur’an dan Tafsir program is essential to enhance the quality of Qur’anic studies in higher education.
