Piece of irregular profile. On a beige velvet background, there is a floral vegetal decoration in green, salmon and maroon, which is distributed around a central crown motif. \Italian velvet from the mid-seventeenth century, intended for upholstery. It is a very rich fabric technically speaking, known as `jardinerie', which became fashionable at this time, and which every wealthy house in Europe wanted for their upholstery. The shape of the piece indicates that it is upholstery for the seat of an armchair.
