Pelerine, feathers from peacock and domestic fowl hand-stitched to cotton, lined with down covered cotton fabric, Britain, 1830s. Pattern of triangles and half-moons made up of green and blue peacock feathers, while surrounding feathers are from a range of domestic fowl. Each feather has been attached by hand to cotton buckram, which in turn is lined with a softer cotton fabric covered by tufts of white down. The edge of the latter has been turned back and stitched coarsely. Feathers and down hand-stitched to cotton buckram and cotton fabric.
