<i>Gurukul</i> to Global: Paving Path to <i>Viksit Bharat</i>@2047

Educational journey of India spans several millennia - from the ancient Gurukul system to the globally integrated modern education ecosystem. As the nation aspires to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat@ 2047, education emerges as a foundational tool for economic growth, social justice, cultural rejuvenation, and global leadership. This research paper (i) examines the philosophical foundations of the Gurukul model, (ii) traces historical transitions shaped by colonial and post-colonial reforms while analyzing the influence of globalization and technological advancement, and (iii) evaluates contemporary transformations such as those introduced by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The paper argues that the integration of indigenous Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) with modern scientific and technological progress represents the most strategic pathway for India to attain the status of a developed nation - Viksit Bharat by 2047. Employing historical, sociological, economic, and policy-oriented multidisciplinary perspectives; the study proposes a framework for reshaping education system of India into a hybrid model. It is firmly rooted in cultural wisdom while being fully prepared for global competitiveness. The conclusion outlines strategies for fostering a sustainable, innovative, inclusive, and future-ready education ecosystem aligned with developmental aspirations of India.
