Historie rozdělující i spojující. Česko-německý prostor v díle Jaroslava Rudiše

View through CrossRef
Jaroslav Rudiš creates a specific Third Space through his works, a space based on three main pillars which intersect with each other. The first is history, specifically, the shared history of the Czechs and the Germans; the second is national stereotypes (such as beer, humour and melancholy, where beer is a connecting, transcultural stereotype); and the third is the author’s self-presentation. From the combination of these, a hybrid Third Space that is unique arises and spans the borders between Czechia and Germany, between the factual and the fictional, and between the past and present. The author situates himself in that space, as is underscored by the fact that he uses both Czech and German in his work, continuing in his own way the tradition of German-language literature in the Czech lands, to which he found his way from literature written in Czech.
