Stage costume for Damsel for I Puritani

Theatrical costume for the character of a damsel in Vincenzo Bellini's I Puritani, a play directed by Guido Salvini in 1989, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. The conception and design of the costume are based on the figures of Giorgio De Chirico who inaugurated the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in 1933 with the costumes for this opera. The costume is of fantastic inspiration in that it is detached from the historical period in which the action takes place, eliminating the prevailing black of the aristocratic clothes of the seventeenth century and is instead dominated by strong colours. De Chirico brings to the costume the painting that made him famous throughout the world.
