Debates in setting benchmarks for a specific language have great significance which covers the areas like pronunciation, accent, tone and idioms etc. As Urdu is national language of Pakistan. It is need of the hour to establish certain parameters and may be incorporated in different spheres of life to create uniformity in oral as well as in written communication like diction and orthography. In this way a standard may be evolved in textbooks, electronic media and print media. In this article, researcher discusses the issues in Pakistan perspective and proposes certain recommendations to fix the problem.
