Abstract
Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Hassan Azhari possesses extensive expertise and scholarship in Qur’anic studies, particularly in the sciences of tajwid and taranum. His prominence in this field has not only earned him admiration and respect throughout Malaysia but has also attracted the attention of contemporary scholars. He developed his own distinctive and unique methodology in the teaching and learning of taranum al-Qur’an, which differs from that of other figures in the field. However, to date, this methodology has not been formally documented for public dissemination. This represents a significant loss, as there is concern that the uniqueness of his teaching and learning methods in taranum may fade after his passing. This qualitative study gathers data through document review and field research. Since Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Hassan Azhari is still living and documented sources regarding his biography are limited, the researcher relied primarily on field data obtained through interviews conducted directly with him. The findings reveal that his life history is highly compelling, and that his methodology in teaching and learning the science of taranum is both distinctive and exceptional.
