The Three Consonants of Three Mongolian Scripts
View through CrossRef
Mongolians have created and used different scripts at different historical periods. They are continuously studied and analyzed by domestic and foreign scholars. Although many scripts have been studied individually, there is no comparative study of the three Mongolian scripts, namely soyombo, horizontal quadratic and vagindra. This paper aims to analyze the writing of the three consonants n, ng, and ñ in the three Mongolian scripts, and to highlight the situation in which the two consonants n and ng alternated in the appropriate system during the development of the phonetics of the Mongolian language, as well as the new philological phenomenon of the nasalization of the consonant n marked in these three Mongolian scripts.
