Četrdeset godina studija pedagogije na Filozofskom fakultetu u Zadru

Pedagogy has been a required subject for all courses of study educating students for the teaching profession at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zadar. The Chair of Pedagogy established in 1958/59 catered to this need. This has remained so to the present. In addition to this in 1961/62 a three-years long study of pedagogy itself was established in 1961/62. This year marks the fortieth anniversary of studying pedagogy at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zadar. From the 1977/78 academic year pedagogy in Zadar is studied as a four-years course of study. The continued two subject concept of study was transformed in 1982/83 into a one subject course but was shortly abandoned for the earlier two subject course of study. In Croatia (Zagreb, Zadar, Rijeka) pedagogy was initially organized as a chair to be later transformed into a department. The oldest chair for pedagogy was established in Zagreb in 1893 and developed into a separate course of studying pedagogy in 1928. The first chair of pedagogy in Rijeka began in 1962 while the first course of study commenced in 1966. It is to be expected that from the next academic year the Department of Pedagogy will be transformed into an independent department within the framework of the University of Zadar which is in the process of being constituted.
