Los Curie y la propiedad intelectual

The spouses Curie, Pierre Curie and Marie Salomea Sklodowska Curie, in their professional activity, interacted with intellectual property, during the final years of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The Curies addressed the investigation of uranium rays, which led them to discover the elements polonium (Po) and radium (Ra), the study of the radioelements and the description of the phenomenon of radioactivity. In 1903, the spouses shared the Nobel Prize in physics with Henry Becquerel. In 1911, Marie Curie was awarded the Nobel Prize in chemistry. This publication evaluates the relationship between the Curies and industrial property, regarding the patenting of the devices designed by Pierre Curie and the subsequent decision not to patent the method of purification of the radium (Ra). Marie Curie also defended the copyright of her texts and the role of scientists in society.
