Analisis Usaha Ternak Lebah Madu Kelulut (Trigona sp.) di Desa Tanjung Leban, Bengkalis Riau

The initial development of the Biene Honey group was carried out through the corporate social responsibility (CSR) program for Peat Forest Honey Cultivation fostered by PT Pertamina RU II Sungai Pakning. The existence of this program contributed to maintaining the sustainability of the surrounding environment. Kelulut honey bee (Trigona sp.) has been known to be cultivated as a potential commodity in such areas. Cultivating bees is a profitable and feasible business.  This study aims to (1) identify the profile of kelulut honey bee cultivators in Tanjung Leban Village, Bandar Laksamana District, Bengkalis Regency; (2) analyze the kelulut honey bee cultivation business; (3)identify the obstacles during cultivating kelulut honey bees. The census of five kelulut honey bee cultivators was applied to this study. Data were obtained through interviews. Data were analyzed in a descriptive-quantitative manner. The results showed that the cultivator profiling varied based on age, education level, and main work. Kelulut honey bee cultivation business contributed about Rp2,400,000 in a single production process to a respective cultivator. Several obstacles were identified such as lack of skill, pest attack, bad weather, and lack of capital. However the kelulut honey bee cultivation has the potential to develop.
