Bhabha, Homi K.

Abstract Homi K. Bhabha's work has inaugural significance in the field of postcolonial theory and was especially influential in the formative stages of the discourse as it tried to recuperate signs of subjectivity and resistance in the gap between what Benita Parry calls the “monolithic, near deliberative colonial power” and “an undifferentiated oppressed mass.” Bhabha was born in Bombay, India, in 1949, educated at the University of Bombay and the University of Oxford, and is at present the Anne F. Rothenberg Professor in the Department of English and American Literature at Harvard University. He is also Director of the Humanities Center at Harvard. ’
