Analysis of the cost of acne treatment, acne scars and acne sequelae from the point of view of the payerpatient perspective at 1A hospital, Ho Chi Minh City in 2021

Objective: To Ddescribe the average cost of treating acne, acne scars and acne sequelae from the patient perspective payer's point of view at Hospital 1A, Ho Chi Minh City in 2021 and analyze the influencing factors Methods: Cross-sectional study was used with Conduct a description of direct medical costs, non-medical direct costs and indirect costs of 291 patients who had came to treat acne, acne scars and acne sequelae from since April/ 2021 to September 2021 at 1A Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City. Conduct iIn-depth interviews with research subjects were conducted in order to analyze a number of factors affecting the direct and indirect costs of treatment of acne treatment, acne scars and acne sequelae. Results: The total cost including direct and indirect costs for each patient's treatment session was, on average, 1,800,600 VND, in which direct costs for medical care account for the highest proportion (45.28%). Drug costs are the highest proportion of direct medical expenses, on average, each patient pays 351,300 VND/treatment. Factors affecting the treatment cost include: age, gender, distance to hospital, pathological features, prescribed treatment methods and payment methods. Conclusion: To optimize the treatment cost of treating acne, acne scars and acne sequelae for patients, the hospital should have a policy of assigning drugs and reasonable regimens; strengthen communication, health education and prevention for high-risk groups.
