One sheep sweaters', installation

An installation of 20 machine knitted sweaters (a=t), natural wool, titled 'One sheep sweaters'. The sweaters, made in one knitting pass, so without seams, are felted after knitting. Looking for a supplier closer to home than New Zealand, Christien Meindertsma discovered a sheepfold with 25 merino sheep in Aarle-Rixtel (North Brabant), the only one in the Netherlands. These sheep have soft wool, suitable for knitting sweaters. Once a year they are stripped of their coats. She had this photographed. The 50 pictures (u 1 t/m 50) belong to this installation. \One sweater was then knitted from the wool of each sheep, not by the designer himself but on the computer-controlled knitting machine in the museum's TextielLab. Each sheep has an ear tag with its own number, which can be found embroidered on each sweater.
