Kollwitz, Käthe: The Last

On a stool stands a man with a rope with a head-sized loop in his hand. He wants to attach this to the bar above him in order to hang himself. This handmade woodcut is rare. This article deals with the edition of the “Youth Assistance” for which 200 numbered extracts were produced. It can be recognized by the signature added to the wooden stock to the right, only here Käthe Kollwitz cut a signature into the wooden stock.
