Porträt Carlo Broschi, genannt Farinelli (1705-1782)
View through Europeana Collections
Portrait of Carlo Broschi, called Farinelli. The Italian castrate singer appears here as a chest in the three-quarter profile facing to the left, the head turned to the right and the eyes pointed forward. He wears a embroidered jacket and a shirt with jabot. His dark hair seems bundled in the neck. The effigy is placed in an oval frame, resting on a pedestal, lying on the book and above it a deferred notebook. On the base view, a short Italian text is still to be found, along with the indication that Amiconi, sometimes also known as Amigoni, painted the image. In addition to the specified date, the name of the stabler seems to have been deleted. In fact, both the British Museum and the Duke Anton Ulrich Museum in Braunschweig have copies of the present paper, which is written under the dating of the steers and publishers, Joseph Wagner.
