Garofalo, Raffaele

Widely associated with the “Holy Three” of Italian positivism, Raffaele Garofalo was much more broad in his perspective. Garofalo spent his life involved in the administration of criminal justice as a lawyer, prosecutor, and magistrate, and in academia as a professor of criminal law and procedure. Therefore, it is tempting to narrowly associate Garofalo with Cesare Lombroso when his work spanned years, and covered topics that today fall into the realm of public safety, the rights of victims, crime prevention, and the administration of law.
