Sitter information: Sir Archibald Hope (28 February 1808-24 January 1883). 12th Baronet, Lt. Col. Midlothian Militia. DL Edinburgh. Married Aldena (d. 20 October 1908) daughter of Henry Kingscote, 17 July 1862. Lady Hope Lady Edwin Hill Mrs. Goff Viscountess Holmesdale, born Lady Julia Mann (2 July 1844-1 September 1883), name changed to Cornwallis 22 October 1844. Only surviving child of the 5th and last Earl Cornwallis. Married 27 August 1862 to William Archer Amherst, Viscount Holmesdale (1836-1910). The Viscountess is buried at Linton. The center photograph and photograph in the lower right corner of the page are bordered in red and silver metallic paint. The other photographs are frame with graphite lines which may indicate that they too were to be similarly bordered.
