Woman's collar of cotton hand-embroidered with cotton thread, made in England, 1830s. Woman's collar of fine white cotton hand-embroidered with white cotton in satin and buttonhole stitch. In form, it is double consisting of a rectangular collar with pointed front corners stitched over a deeper one with rounded corners which extend into lappets which expand at the ends and are finished straight. All the edges are cut in points with scalloped borders. The pattern consists of a formal leaf border with sprays of flowers arranged in each of the points and down the lappets.  Cotton hand-embroidered with cotton thread.
