De l'esprit déterminé (chengxin) à l'infinitude (wuxian) : l'intuition taoïste est-elle intellectuelle ?

Mou Zongsan (1909-1995), an eminent representative of contemporary Neoconfucianism, insists that intellectual intuition plays a central role within Chinese thought because it allows the achievement of self-perfection that opens the door to holiness. Rather than being the "limiting concept" of Kant, Mou Zongsan explains that for Confucians, Daoists or Buddhists intellectual intuition is what allows the individual to be on an equal footing with the invisible and noumenal dimension of reality. Although Mou Zongsan 's approach is not without interest, it does pose a problem: Is the intellectual intuition which he sees at work in Chinese thought really congruent with what certain thinkers of the Western tradition refer to by this name?
