Christening robe with sleeves of satin bound and faced with silk, England, ca. 1740. Christening robe bound and faced with pink silk and trimmed down the front with five bows made up from white silk ribbon edged with pink. The robe consists of a plain bodice with shoulder straps and skirt which is flared, with the width increased by extending it at each side of the waist, and with two gores at the hem. The bodice is lined with natural linen, and the skirt with pink silk. The bodice, shoulder straps, and tops of the skirt side panels are faced with pink satin. White satin sleeves with turn-back rounded cuffs and faced with pink satin. Satin faced with silk, and lined with linen and silk.

The robe consists of a plain bodice with shoulder straps and skirt which is flared, with the width increased by extending it at each side of the waist, and with two gores at the hem.
The bodice is lined with natural linen, and the skirt with pink silk.
The bodice, shoulder straps, and tops of the skirt side panels are faced with pink satin.
