Η διαμάχη πλατωνιστών και αριστοτελιστών κατά την πρώιμη Αναγέννηση

Plato and Aristotle are two milestones in the history of philosophy that form the basis or at least a permanent point of reference for various theories even today. Aristotle's strong criticism of Plato regarding the nature of ideas and numbers should not, on the other hand, obscure the truth that the basis of Aristotelian philosophy was ultimately the Platonic framework of the theory of ideas. Already in late antiquity, the way Aristotelian ideas were received by Platonist philosophers differed as some of them considered them to alter Platonic thought, while others incorporated them into the Platonic corpus. In this article I will deal with the period of the Renaissance and the revival of this debate that began with the conflict between Pletho and Scholarius and continued with the intense criticism and defense of Platonic-Platonic ideas by the Greek humanists of the Renaissance.
