Summary. - Recent studies shed new light on the confused chronology of Heraclius' reign. Thus the emperor's second marriage with Martina, traditionally dated in 613/614 after Theophanes, is now situated towards 623 following an indication in the Breviarium of the Patriarch Nicephorus. It is here suggested, therefore, to identify the empress who appears, together with Heraclius and his son Heraclius-Constantine, on numerous monetary emissions of the reign, and in particular on the folks of Constantinople dated between 615/616 and 628/629, no longer as Martina, but as Eudocia, Heraclius' first-born daughter from the first marriage, who received the imperial crown in 612 and was dispached to her fiancé, the lord of the western Turks T'ong Yabghu Kaghan, in 629, her departure to the East being the explanation of her brusque disappearance from the coins.
