View through CrossRef
The article discusses Monasticism in Protestantism, focusing on the forms of celibate life in the late 17th and 18th centuries, as well as monastic structures and orders in the 20th and 21st centuries. It explores the reasons behind the revival of monasticism within the Protestant tradition, the ideology of contemporary Protestant monasticism, and the uniqueness of Protestant monastic structures. The article also examines the specific characteristics of Protestant monasteries and orders, highlighting the fact that Monasticism in Protestantism serves as an example of a return to pre-Reformation traditions. Although monastic life is less common in Protestant communities compared to Orthodox and Catholic traditions, it is still an important form of devotion for many Christians.
