This study aims to describe the diction selection, social context, and thinking structure of fifth-grade students in creating humorous pantuns. The study employed a qualitative phenomenological approach, with data consisting of 28 humorous pantuns produced by students of SDN Cimpaeun 3. From this total, six students were purposively selected as key informants based on the richness of their data and the achievement of data saturation, so that their findings reflect the dominant patterns across all data. Data collection techniques included classroom observation, analysis of pantun documents, and in-depth interviews. Data were analyzed thematically using ATLAS.ti through stages of identifying meaning units, initial coding, category grouping, and formulation of main themes. The findings revealed three main themes: (1) classification of message types in humorous pantuns, (2) contexts underlying the emergence of pantuns, and (3) students’ thinking structures in creating pantuns. The results showed a dominance of social messages conveyed through mild satire and everyday experiences. Diction was chosen from the immediate social environment and exposure to digital media, particularly TikTok, while everyday habits served as the primary context for pantun creation. Students’ thinking structures were concrete and contextual, beginning with the recognition of social phenomena, selection of familiar diction, rhyme adjustment, and culminating in the humorous delivery of social messages.
