Aristagoras of Miletos

AbstractAristagoras (?‐ca. 496bce), son of Molpagoras, from a distinguished Milesian family, was the deputy tyrant (epitropos)of his relative Histiaios, detained in Susa, from ca. 511 to autumn 499. His aim was apparently to consolidate the role of Miletos and his own power in the eastern Mediterranean under Achaemenid rule.
