Abstract
Thales of Miletos was a Presocratic philosopher and one of the so‐called Seven Sages. He was commonly regarded as the first mathematician, geometrician, and astronomer. The notion that Thales was the “founding father” of philosophy and most of the reports about his philosophical thinking go back to Aristotle. No writings of Thales existed, but, due to his intellectual prestige, he was often portrayed as the typical wise man and philosophical thinker.
