The Annual Ceremony of administering the Oaths of Allegiance preceding Lord Mayor's Day

On the Friday before Lord Mayor's day, the
incumbent mayor is traditionally conferred with his symbols of
office at a ceremony in the Guildhall. He then formally takes
office and his predecessor retires. The aldermen swear allegiance
to the new mayor.
