Kajian Literatur Microneedle Patch dalam Menangani Jerawat (Acne vulgaris)

View through CrossRef
Abstract. Acne (Acne vulgaris) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease commonly occurring in adolescents and adults. Acne is influenced by excessive sebum production, hyperkeratinization, bacterial colonization and inflammatory reactions. Microneedle patch is an innovative microneedle-based transdermal system that delivers active ingredients to the skin effectively without pain. The purpose of this study was to examine the active ingredients, types of microneedles, the effectiveness and safety of microneedle patches in treating acne. This study was conducted using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method on research articles from scientific databases from 2015–2025. The results of the study showed that the active ingredients used were Matrine, Salicylic Acid, Azelaic Acid, and Triamcinolone Acetonide showed high antibacterial activity. Microneedle patches, especially the dissolving type of microneedle, can dissolve in the skin without causing pain. Microneedle patches effectively damage the structure of bacterial cells and reduce bacterial viability, reduce IL-1β, and accelerate acne healing in 4–6 days. Microneedle patches are declared safe because they do not cause irritation, hemolysis <5%, and are free from toxic effects. Thus, microneedle patches are effective and safe to use as acne therapy.
