AbstractLeontios (?–218bce) was Captain of the Peltasts during the reign of Philip V of Macedon. According to Polybius, he was involved in the “Apelles Conspiracy” (219–218bce) which allegedly aimed to sabotage the king's relationship with the Achaian League, its leader Aratos of Sikyon, and his military operations against Aitolia in the Social War (220–217bce). He was executed by Philip in 218bcefollowing a mutiny among the peltasts andagema,and the production of letters indicating his involvement in the supposed plot.
