The embroidered initials CS on these stockings belong to Cornelia Steengracht van Oostkapelle-van Nellesteijn. The stockings are preserved with the court gown that Cornelia is thought to have worn to a reception at the court of Louis Napoleon, when he was king of Holland. The gown is on display in the case nearby.
