АNTUN BARAC ОN NJEGOŠ

The author gives an analytic review of Аntun Barac’s contribution to Njegošology. Apart from looking back at Barac as a lecturer and educator, the text thoroughly reviews his comments on the Mountain Wreath, as well as other Barac’s works from the field of Njegošology. The author concludes that Barac knew and understood Njegoš’s style very well, and that his comments were always well-reasoned and fair. Barac’s name must be mentioned among the most prominent analysts of the Mountain Wreath,and his texts on Njegoš cannot be neglected in discussing cultural bonds between Montenegrins and Croats. He also wrote fairly about Montenegrins in the monograph on Mažuranić, and this is why Montenegrins think of him with deep gratitude and reverence. Njegošologists respect his work even more as it comes from such a great man of Croatian literature and culture.
