Soviet Yiddish propaganda poster “Female Peasant, Join the Collective!” 1920s-1930s

The poster - “Poyerte, treyt arayn a kolektiv!” in original Yiddish - promoted Soviet policy of collectivization launched in 1929. The Soviet government and Bolshevik party encouraged and coerced individual farmers to form collective farms, including diary cooperatives, for industrial production of agricultural products. Designed by Petr Afanas’ev (1866-1960), Russian and Soviet painter, book and poster designer. Published by Tsenroizdat (Central Publishing House for the USSR Peoples, 1924-1931). Print run 500 copies. Price 15 kopeks.
