Meaning Analysis of Indonesian Song Lyric 'Sampai Jadi Debu': Semantic Study

Besides being used to interact and communicate with fellow peoples, language can be used by peoples to express themselves through a form. This form can be in the form of works such as songs or poems. Language that is pronounced by peoples in the form of songs has its own tone and is different from the flat tone that is pronounced by peoples when speaking or communicating as usual. Languages that are pronounced in these tones can be beautiful tones that we also can still know the meanings of the languages given the tones which are exposed in the song lyrics. The language exposed in song lyrics can be assessed by using semantic studies starting with analyzing each word contained in the song lyrics. Song lyrics have some similarities with poetry, namely using diction and style of language that tends to be poetic. The analysis of the meanings performed in the lyrics of this song is reviewed based on the type of meaning. The language or vocabulary contained in the song lyrics "Sampai Jadi Debu" sung by Banda Neira has diction or the choice of words and language styles that are unique and romantic. This song is one of the favorite songs for all because of its beautiful tone and deep lyrics. The method used in this study is a qualitative linguistic method with listening and recording data techniques. The theory used is the semantic theory of the type of meaning proposed by Geoffrey Leech. This study aims to describe the meaning of the song "Sampai Jadi Debu" sung by Banda Neira with Semantic studies. After the disclosure of meaning, it can be revealed also the message that actually wanted to be conveyed by the songwriter. The results obtained from this study are in the form of information about the meaning and type of meaning contained in the song lyrics "Sampai Jadi Debu."
