Escola Portuguesa de Luanda, um resquício da (neo)colonização

Through a qualitative approach and bibliographic research method, this article analyzes the behavior of European schools in Angola, more specifically the actions of the Portuguese School of Luanda (EPL), a Portuguese public legal institution located in the Angolan capital. The results of this study indicate that the Portuguese School of Luanda (EPL) is racist, or at least operates according to a modus operandi that can be called discriminatory and neocolonialist. Institutions like the Portuguese School of Luanda are a remnant of neocolonialism, if not of past colonization lost in time and space. Furthermore, as long as the so-called international schools – generally European, such as the Portuguese School of Luanda – continue to carry out their activities outside the framework of the Angolan Education System's Basic Law, any prospects for a curricular reform and of the education system as a whole that can be called endogenous, intercultural and Afrocentric, which translates into de facto epistemological sovereignty, will continue to be postponed. Thus, the intervention of the Angolan government is urgently needed to enforce the norms on which the assumptions of sovereignty, national independence, as well as Article 23 (principle of equality) of the Constitution of the Republic of Angola are based.
