Hindu Wedding

Sadie Durkin came over to England to train as a nurse like thousands of other Irish Girls . Two years after she had arrived in London , she met 45-year-old Dharamchand Wadha, an Indian Hindu restaurant proprietor in the West End . A year later , 26-year-old Sadie was married to him , with full Hindu ritual , in front of a large congregation of Hindus and Christians , in a room hired and decorated for the occasion . Sadie and Dharamchand went away for a honeymoon in the South of France . Sadie's parents in Ireland were not pleased by their daughter's marriage . ' She had told us in her letters ,' they said ' that she had met someone and was going to get married . But we didn't know he was an Indian .
