CERITA RAKYAT BALI SEBAGAI REFERENSI NASKAH ANIMASI DALAM UPAYA PENGUATAN BUDAYA LOKAL

The use of Balinese folklore as the basis for an animation script serves to preserve cultural heritage. Animation can be effective in spreading and preserving local cultural values, visualizing folk stories to connect with the younger generation. Apart from that, animation has the potential to introduce the richness of Balinese culture globally. Bali has many folk tales stored in museums, one of which is Gedong Kirtya. By searching for Balinese folk tales in Gedong Kirtya, three Balinese folk tales were obtained based on recommendations from library guides and Balinese language experts. The three stories are Pan Bansing Teken I Belog, I Rare Angon, and I Cupak Teken I Grantang. This research uses qualitative methods by analyzing narrative elements and cultural elements in the stories Pan Bansing Teken I Belog, I Rare Angon, and I Cupak Teken I Grantang. The results of the analysis found that the three Balinese folk tales have potential as references for animation scripts because they have educational themes, strong characters, local cultural background, and deep moral messages, so they can be used as valuable resources to promote and preserve Balinese culture. through contemporary media.   Key words : Folklore, Script, Animation, Local Culture
